The Appalachian Drone & Aviation Expo is bringing the past, present, and future of aviation together at Boggs Field in Spencer, West Virginia.

Alongside cutting-edge drone technology and emerging Advanced Air Mobility, traditional aircraft will give students, families, and aviation enthusiasts an opportunity to experience aviation up close.

AIRCRAFT DISPLAY WELCOME

Put Your Aircraft on Display at Boggs Field

From classic aviation to experimental aircraft, the Appalachian Drone & Aviation Expo is designed to show visitors how flight has evolved—and where it is headed next.

Aircraft owners are invited to bring their aircraft to Boggs Field for static display and spend time talking with students and members of the public about their aircraft, aviation experience, and the world of flight.

Whether you fly a vintage taildragger, an experimental build, a glider, general aviation aircraft, or another unique aircraft, your participation can help make aviation real and memorable for visitors of all ages.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We welcome a variety of aircraft and aviation organizations.

Potential displays may include:

★ General aviation aircraft

★ Vintage and historic aircraft

★ Taildraggers

★ Experimental aircraft

★ Homebuilt aircraft

★ Gliders

★ Unique or specialty aircraft

★ Aviation training aircraft

★ Aircraft representing aviation organizations or clubs

★ Other aircraft of educational or public interest

A tethered hot air balloon or other specialty aviation display may also be considered when appropriate.

STATIC AIRCRAFT DISPLAY

Let Visitors Experience Aviation Up Close

Aircraft participating in the display portion of ADAE will remain on static display.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see aircraft up close, learn how they operate, ask questions, and meet the pilots, owners, and aviation professionals behind them.

Important Flight Information

Aircraft displays are static only.

There will be no aircraft flight demonstrations outside of the approved EAA Young Eagles program.

Drone flight demonstrations will take place separately within designated areas of the event.

TALK WITH STUDENTS & FAMILIES

Your Aircraft Can Inspire Someone's First Interest in Aviation

For many visitors—especially students attending Friday's Education Day—the Appalachian Drone & Aviation Expo may be their first opportunity to stand next to an aircraft and speak directly with someone involved in aviation.

We encourage participating aircraft owners and pilots to be available when possible to answer questions such as:

★ What type of aircraft is this?

★ How does it fly?

★ What does it take to become a pilot?

★ How did you get involved in aviation?

★ How is the aircraft used?

★ What aviation careers are available?

★ What does aircraft ownership involve?

Sometimes one conversation with a pilot is all it takes to spark a lifelong interest in aviation.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Student Education Day

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Friday is dedicated to approximately 2,000 students from Roane County Schools, Faith Christian Academy, and area homeschool programs.

Traditional aircraft will remain on static display while Drone Exhibitors conduct live demonstrations and educational activities throughout the day.

Aircraft participants will have an opportunity to introduce young people to general aviation, aircraft ownership, piloting, aviation careers, engineering, maintenance, and the history of flight.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

Young Eagles & Public Expo

8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

EAA Chapter 1336 Young Eagles Flights

Saturday morning features the EAA Chapter 1336 Young Eagles program, giving eligible young people the opportunity to experience flight firsthand.

Young Eagles activities are scheduled from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Public Expo

Beginning at noon, ADAE opens to the general public.

Aircraft displays will be part of an afternoon featuring Drone Exhibitors, technology demonstrations, aviation exhibits, food vendors, and family activities.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Public Expo

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Sunday gives aircraft owners another opportunity to meet visitors and share their passion for aviation during the final day of the expo.

The public event continues with Drone Exhibitors, aircraft displays, drone competitions, simulators, and family activities.

PARTICIPATE ONE DAY OR ALL THREE

We Know Every Aircraft Owner's Schedule Is Different

We would love to have participating aircraft remain on-site throughout the entire three-day event, but participation is flexible.

If you can only bring your aircraft for one or two days, let us know.

Event organizers will work with aircraft owners based on aircraft availability, arrival and departure requirements, and airfield logistics.

AIRCRAFT PARKING & PLACEMENT

We'll Coordinate Your Arrival

When registering, please provide:

★ Aircraft type

★ Aircraft make and model

★ Approximate aircraft dimensions if needed

★ Days you plan to participate

★ Special parking or positioning requirements

★ Pilot or owner contact information

★ Organization or aviation club affiliation, if applicable

Airfield placement will be coordinated following registration.

Final aircraft placement at Boggs Field will be confirmed with Richard Boggs.
